These materials come from a kind of tree in Tibet. When seeds are all ripe and ready, they will be selected to choose the most beautiful round ones, without any cracking or damage.  The seeds are sun-dried and are then completely ground one by one. The seeds have brown red silk like blood vessels.

Lamas often use this Prayer beads of Bodhi Seed Mala to practice, as it can help to eliminate bad energy. With time, the seeds become more beautiful with shade of yellow or red.
