GARNET- THE MOST ANCIENT STONE IN THE WORLD

Garnet currently is the most favourite stone because of its unique luxurious red wine colour. This is also the kind of stone which people get used to bring along when travelling in order to prevent bad luck happens.

1.    Origin

Garnet is a kind of stone which has attractive and unique crimson colour of a ripe plums. Perhaps this is because of this very charming appearance that it was named Garnet- derived from la Latin “Granatum” (a kind of tree which is planted in Asia and have fruits with red colour).

In the history of mineralogy, Garnet is considered to be the oldest stone that has known because the scientists found one garnet bracelet in Egypt which is 5000 years old. This kind of gemstone is very famous and popular in Europe and Asia when used to make the accessories or to put the bullets in the military in order to strengthen the damage in the years of 18th and 19th century. 

Garnet or Garnet is a Nesosilicate gem containing elements, such as: calcium, magnesium, iron, plus the other elements such as manganese, chromium, and titanium with less content which forming many kinds of colours such as: emerald, orange, pink, purple, and yellow… But the most favorite colour of Garnet is pomegranate red, so they are called by the very special name: “pomegranate gem”.  With the hardness of 7/10 on the Mohs scale, Garnet is very solid, not easily broken or deformed when falling like the other low hardness gem.
